The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) was established in 1996 by Doris Duke’s will and endowed by her assets, which totaled approximately $2.4 billion as of December 31, 2020. Governed by a board of trustees, DDCF continues to be entirely funded through this endowment. The foundation regularly evaluates and modifies its allocation of resources from the endowment to support its grantmaking programs, museums and centers.
The foundation awarded its first grants in 1997. As of December 31, 2020, DDCF has approved grants totaling approximately $1.84 billion.
