Sean Thackurdeen
Program Associate for the Environment
R. Sean Thackurdeen is the program associate for the environment at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Prior to joining the foundation, Sean spent seven years at the New York Botanical Garden engaged in interdisciplinary research to document the biodiversity, environmental knowledge and languages of an archipelago in the South Pacific. Over the course of his career, he has spent over a year living and working in remote forests as a conservationist and anthropologist. Previously, he has also enjoyed stints in community development and social enterprise. Sean has a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College, where he studied environmental biology and anthropology.
