Roni Mayes
Veronica (Roni) Mayes is the senior human resources associate at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and its operating foundations. In this capacity, she is involved with all aspects of recruitment and the hiring process, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) reporting, short- and long-term disability, FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), worker’s compensation, unemployment claims, employee relations, policy interpretation and implementation, training new hires in ADP Workforce and administering employee benefits. Mayes is also a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Working Group and the Safety and Security committee at Duke Farms.
Before joining the foundation in 2015, Mayes worked for an insurance brokerage firm, HUB International, where she was a human resources generalist. Prior to that, she held positions at Macy’s, Smith Kline Beecham, Marriott and Johnson & Johnson.
Mayes earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a minor in computer science from William Paterson University of New Jersey and a Maste in human resources management from DeVry University. She also holds a human resources certificate from Middlesex County College. Mayes currently sits on the board for several nonprofit organizations, including Camp Fire NJ, the Deirdre O’Brien Child Advocacy Center and the YMCA in Hillsborough, N.J., and she is a member of Toastmaster’s International and of the Central New Jersey Chapter of the Society of Human Resources Management.
