Grantmaking Process

To maximize the reach of its grant dollars, the Arts Program administers relatively few programs itself but, more often, awards large initiative grants to intermediary nonprofit organizations, which in turn distribute grants to individual artists and arts organizations through competitive, peer-reviewed selection processes.

Grantseekers interested in applying for funding through intermediary-administered programs should apply directly to the intermediary through their appropriate guidelines and not directly to DDCF.

Although unsolicited proposals are rarely funded, inquiries about future support for projects that fall within the Arts Program’s funding priorities can be submitted through a letter of inquiry.
